Bulgaria and the Black Sea

By Dan - Posted on 24 July 2009

We've made good prgress through Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. Today we arrived at the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria for a half day relaxing in the medieval town of Nessebar. Aiming for Turkey tomorrow to make sure we stay on schedule. I reckon we need to be on the ferry to Sochi, Russia, by next Sunday at the latest.

Slovakia- beautiful and cheap. Great atmosphere.
Hungary - flat, not much to see where we went but it was good to see my friends Andy and Samm and the pretty town of Szeged.
Romania- much more together than we expected. More European feeling and, again, pretty and pleasant. Rolling hills, Transylvania was awesome- roads left a lot to me desired.
Bulgaria - everything is in Russian script and many words are shared. Great roads and good scenery, green and yellow rolling hills with low trees and grass lands reminiscent of parts of Africa. Very hot.

Bike going well. Needs an oil change and a few tweaks in Instanbul...

Trip map still being updated (see previous blog entry for the link)
